My neighbor has a proclivity for RDXs. Apparently it spreads to out of town family, too.

Come to think of it, RDX/MDX makes up a lot of S UVs on my block. There’s probably a socioeconomic lesson there. Too nice for CRVs, bu t too fiscally conservative for MBs.

I’ve got a soft spot for Acura. Had an ‘88 Legend sedan (manual).

My wife just swapped out her ‘14 MDX for a Telluride. Sold the MDX to my nephew for a very good price - they’re about to have their first kid.

MB breaks. Acura don’t. Acura bestest of what don’t break. Acura has turbo. Acura above Toyota lowlife trash. Rich caveman get bestest turbo club that don’t break for job.

Till the oppohunt, I never realized how many families  have similar cars, with a color or model gen difference.

Hmm. Fanciest car in my neighborhood is a ..... 5 year old Escalade? Yeah, that or a Q5 is about it. An NSX would be a shocker.

An old friend of mine drives a CRV. And his wife drives an older CRV. And his parents drive a newer CRV.

I had an 88 Integra once upon a time, and a CL type S. They were both great, but in 2017 I test drove a TLX, and almost fell asleep.

Better than my neighbor’s trio of L33 Altimas, though at least two of them are red and orange.

Sad, but true.

Hope the upcoming Type S is great.

These are the families that marketing departments seek out for commercials, I think.

Too nice for CRVs, but too fiscally conservative for MBs.

which is of course t he true genius of brands likes Lexus, Infiniti, and Acura. They saw that people wanted to seem elevated, but don’t want to pay the actual tax of owning a Merc / BMW etc.

If it ain't broke don't fix it. And when it does break, it sure does help to have a working example to compare things to/swap parts with. But also people who are married might have similar interests.

And nsx might be flashier but it ain't a whole lot more expensive than an Escalade depending on how it's optioned.

It’s mostly my dad who just has to “get one too”, haha. When I bought the E46 M3, he bought one too (a lot newer and nicer but SMG...yuck). That all stopped when my mom got into hot hatches as that is a category that my dad is not big on. He kinda went off the rails with cars after that!

I ndeed. As actual neighbors, they are exceedingly  nice, very quiet, always 5mph under the speed limit. Grounded to the ground for a new generation.

My former retired neighbors had identical Altimas, one silver, one grey.  They were antisocial to boot.

Early indications from reviews of the turbo 4 are it’s a good platform saddled with comfort/mileage spec all-season tires.

The Type-S should hopefully have better tires and maybe slightly tightened up suspension but it’ll be tough to make it drive better than the Stinger & G70, which can be had in RWD+LSD, and have much easier to use infotainment instead of Acura’s stupid touchpad that’s at least not as bad as Lexus’s stupider touchpad. I can’t stand the look of the front of the current G70 but the upcoming refresh is a huge improvement.

I’m sure the Acura will have better resale value though.

They may have ties to a dealership, like a family member who sells them, so they get discounts. I have a friend who’s uncle or something works at a dealer, so they get all their used Honda s and Acuras for a friends and family price.
